Dear Western Area Members and Supporters,
We are deeply disappointed to announce that the Western Area Conference must be postponed until 2021.
As American businesses began to re-open, we were optimistic that our event could proceed as planned. However, based on the timeline for California State Government’s COVID-19 safety precautions and reopening, it does not seem feasible for conferences and other large gatherings to resume in this calendar year in the state of California.
Protecting your health and safety has been our priority as we’ve moved forward with plans this year but based on California’s “Recovery Roadmap,” we are concerned that San Francisco will not reach its final recovery stage in time for our event in November.
We would like to ensure attendees and exhibitors have the time to change plans and cancel shipments and travel arrangements, so we made the difficult decision to announce today that the event has been postponed.
If there is some good news in all of this, it is that we will have the pleasure of hosting you in San Francisco next year. In the meantime, we are working on ways to bring our regional corrosion community together whether virtually or in small, socially distant networking groups. We will keep you informed of these opportunities as more information becomes available.

Thank you all for your patience, understanding and support. Please stay safe and well.
